The Power of Perspective in Overcoming Suffering
One of the greatest tendencies we have as humans is to compound our suffering by focusing too much on what’s causing our pain. We get lost in the difficulty, forgetting that within our struggles, there is an opportunity for revelation, growth, and purpose.
Pain isn’t just something to endure—it’s often the gateway to something greater, something more loving, and something deeply purposeful. If you’ve lost hope and feel as though your heart has abandoned you, take a deep breath.
You get to try again.
Choose anything but complacency.
Choose anything but running from yourself and your moments.
Choose to lean into the storm, knowing that it has come to cleanse and refine you.
What Do You Really Want?
This is a question I ask myself often.
I ask it when I need clarity.
I ask it when I feel stuck.
I ask it to others when I want to understand what truly matters to them.
Yet, have you ever noticed how difficult this question can be? How often do we freeze and hear ourselves say, “I don’t know”?
Why is that?
Because answering it requires deep self-awareness. It requires honesty and the courage to sit with our truth. It requires a willingness to step outside of the expectations of others and fully embrace the desires of our own hearts.
When I find myself stuck in “I don’t know,” I ask myself a better question:
“If I did know, what do I think it would be?”
This shifts me into a place where I can listen—to myself, to God, to the deeper wisdom that already resides within me.
The Fear of Knowing
There’s a reason we default to uncertainty.
Acknowledging what we truly want requires action. It demands accountability. It invites risk.
We fear disappointing people.
We fear that others won’t want the same things.
We fear rejection.
We fear that we are not enough.
But here’s the truth:
You deserve what you desire.
Living in alignment with your true desires might mean:
Having difficult conversations
Making bold commitments
Opening your heart fully
Starting over
Saying goodbye
Saying yes
Saying no
But regardless of what your heart longs for or how long you’ve been waiting, remember this:
