Called, but Crushed? Read This.




Here’s your friendly faith check-in as we head into the weekend:

 

When you say YES to your calling, don’t be surprised when you’re tested.


 

Disappointment. Delays. People walking away. Doors that should’ve opened but didn’t. It’s not punishment—it’s preparation.

 

God is not just launching you into purpose; He’s forming you for it. Every “no,” every tear, every lonely place… it’s shaping you. Stretching you. Equipping you to carry what you’ve been called to do.

 

I want to speak directly to the weight you might be feeling right now.

You said yes to the call of God.

You surrendered. You obeyed. You made the move, let go of the comfort, and gave God your whole heart. And now? You’re walking through disappointment. People you thought would support you aren’t showing up. Things aren’t happening as quickly as you expected. You feel alone, stretched, and maybe even second-guessing that bold “yes.”

 

Can I encourage you?

This is what calling looks like.

It’s not punishment. It’s preparation.


It’s not rejection. It’s refinement.


It’s not abandonment. It’s alignment.

 

Look at Elisha.

In 1 Kings 19, Elisha receives the call when Elijah throws his cloak over him. Elisha immediately burns his plow and oxen—his old life—and follows the prophet. But what happens next?

 

He doesn’t get a platform. He doesn’t perform miracles. He doesn’t step into immediate glory.


Instead, he serves. He follows. He watches. He waits.


In fact, 2 Kings 3:11 says he was the one who “used to pour water on the hands of Elijah.”

That season of service and humility was part of his preparation. His faithfulness in the shadows is what positioned him for the double portion.

 

So if you’re in a place right now where your yes feels like it cost you everything… but you don’t see the breakthrough yet, take heart.


You’re not off track—you’re being trained.

  • Disappointment doesn’t mean you missed it.

  • Silence doesn’t mean God forgot you.

  • Pressure doesn’t mean God is punishing you.

This is how God builds His leaders.

 

Elisha didn’t receive the mantle just because he wanted it—he received it because he endured.


He stayed close. He didn’t walk away. He passed the test.

And you will too.

 

So what can you do right now?

 

Here’s a simple but powerful checklist as you walk out your yes:

  • Stay faithful where you are. Your current assignment matters—even if it feels small or unseen.

  • Guard your heart. Offense, bitterness, and disappointment are distractions meant to derail you.

  • Keep showing up. Sometimes the miracle is in your consistency.

  • Surround yourself with truth-speakers. Elisha stayed close to Elijah—who are you walking with?

  • Don’t chase the mantle. Chase God. He knows how to release the portion that’s meant for you.

God sees your yes. And He honors it.

So as you go into this weekend, don’t let the tests make you forget the call. You’re right where you need to be. Keep pressing in. Keep preparing. Your double portion moment is coming.
